It is also advisable to have health insurance that is active in Morocco.

What are the best motorcycle routes in Morocco?

The possibilities are endless when it comes to choosing a great riding route through Morocco! But without a doubt, our favorite is the one that goes from north to south— from the Mediterranean coast to the imposing Atlas Mountains. This road is full of the top-notch kind of curves that allow us to fully enjoy our BMWs. From there, we go further south to the Sahara Desert where we find oases, dunes, and canyons.

What to take on a motorcycle tour in Morocco?

The most important thing to keep in mind when preparing for a motorcycle trip in Morocco is that it’s a country of enormous climatic diversity. In a single day, we can begin at 0ºC (32ºF) in the Atlas Mountains and later reach 30ºC (86ºF) in the desert. That’s why we recommend using suits with ventilation panels and multiple layers. Equally important: a good rain suit. And of course, don’t forget your camera! However, please note that it is expressly forbidden to bring drones into Morocco.

There is so much to see in Morocco that it is difficult to choose! However, paramount to any motorcycle experience here is crossing the Atlas Mountains and continuing on to the desert. Both places are vast, full of fascinating places and home to unique ways of life. We also highly recommend exploring the country’s winding scenic coastline!

What is the best motorcycle for travel in Morocco?

The best kind of bike to ride in Morocco is undoubtedly one of dual sport, such as the BMW GS models. These bikes strike an unrivaled balance between comfort and safety, as well possess the adaptability you’ll want for when the road is not in the best conditions— as occasionally happens in Morocco! That makes these bikes the perfect companions for our adventure, although any model in the IMTIBIKE fleet will perform adequately on this trip.

What are the hotels like in Morocco?

Hotels in Morocco are perfect for our trip, as they evoke an atmosphere of bygone style and intrigue. Between the architecture and the impeccable service, don’t be surprised when you catch yourself feeling like you’re on the set of a movie! However, it is true that some hotels there are of a slightly lower standard than those in Europe. That’s why at IMTBIKE, we always lodge our groups at 4-star or higher hotels and prestigious Riads.

What about cash in Morocco?

Your best option is to withdraw Dirhams, which is the official Moroccan currency. You can do this at ATMs along our route with your regular credit card— just let your bank know that you’ll be traveling. On our motorcycle routes in it is very easy to find ATM machines in the places we’ll visit. There are also exchange offices in many of the towns near borders and airports.

What food and drink precautions should I take in Morocco?

It is not advisable to drink tap water anywhere in Morocco. This means no ordering ice in your beverages and always drinking bottled water. Another tip in regards to food is to avoid raw salads and to always peel your fruit, as items such as these are typically washed with tap water.

How are the roads in Morocco?

Roads in Morocco pass through incredible landscapes. However, you will find that the highway networks are not as extensive and the asphalt quality not as good when compared to roads in Europe. Vehicles traveling the roads here also tend to be older, meaning the road surface is not as clean. The Moroccan government has been dedicated to improving infrastructure more so than ever in recent years, which, while good, may also mean that we find some stretches of road that are under construction. In Morocco, the road is a source of life and that source is heavily traveled!

How is the traffic in Morocco?

Traffic regulations for travelling via motorcycle in Morocco are similar to those of any developed country. However there are many road practices there that are more “colloquial” in nature. For example, in their culture, it is understood that the largest vehicle takes precedence, even if signs indicate otherwise. Taxis can stop with little or no indication. In cities, lanes are not always respected and slower, animal-driven can still be frequent in many areas. So, you must drive carefully, alertly, and keep a safe distance from other vehicles.
